"If" - by E.E Cummings

If freckles were lovely, and day was night,
And measles were nice and a lie warn't a lie,
     Life would be delight,-
     But things couldn't go right
For in such a sad plight
I wouldn't be I.

If earth was heaven, and now was hence,
And past was present, and false was true,
     There might be some sense
     But I'd be in suspense
     For on such a pretense
You wouldn't be you.

If fear was plucky, and globes were square,
And dirt was cleanly and tears were glee
     Things would seem fair,-
     Yet they'd all despair,
     For if here was there
We wouldn't be we."

I figured that it would be appropriate on my first post to share with you why I chose the name, "If Freckles Were Lovely". It is an excerpt from my favorite poem, 'If' by E.E Cummings. In this poem Cummings describes that life would appear to be better if things were different. The conclusion, however is that, if things were changed that he, and his beloved too, would be different. In this perfect plight they would cease to be whole thus their perfection would be imperfect. I speak as one who has shed many tears and has been known to play in dirt.  Though my regrets match the number of freckles that find their abode on my shoulders, arms, and cheeks I have nothing to say but that in every circumstance God has provided for me.  The rest of my journey is for the purpose of bringing Him glory, and loving His kids the best that I can.  He is constantly speaking to my heart about the fruit of His Spirit.  In Him I've found peace- I've also found that tears mixed with dirt makes mud- and mud is kind of fun. Remember... Jesus made mud to give sight to the blind.
